Help! XMAS Wish List

December 1st, 2006 at 01:43 pm

Yes...so, yes..I need help.

I've been trying to do a xmas wish list for myself and for my girlfriend....but I have been frugal for so long, I realized that I don't have any wants.

I mean, I dont know what to buy for myself!! I have been staring at my blank wish list for the past 15mins trying to come up with something.

I think....this is not very healthy. I want to splurge, but on what?

Does anyone else here feel the same way? I mean, have you been such a saver to a point that you find little material rewards for yourself that you truly want verus truly need.

I always tend to just buy what I need. Something very practical.

I am like that, too. When asked, I can't think of a thing I want. I try to write it down when a thought goes through my mind "I'd like one of those...

I wrote my list the other day!....sadly enough the things on it are either too expensive to ask for as a gift, or so "simple" that people wouldn't take them seriously....

ask for giftcards from your favorite store. each gift may be small, but you can add them together and they might purchase something big you might otherwise think is too expensive.

Well, I'm a bore, and if it was up to me, I'd just ask for cash. So I can put it in my bank. Wink

I got some practical ideas and finally added some books. Dh's family is annoyed I Don't have enough frivolous wants on my list.

I told them gift cards too but I guess they see that as no fun.

Good Luck. IDeally I like to keep a list throughout the year of stuff that needs replacing that maybe I wouldn't get to but if someone wants to buy me would be great. I have a few on the list but I Want to pick out the items myself. That is why I Was pleased when dh mentioned books. Finally something I Can register online - exactly the books I Want - phew.

I guess on top of all that a wish list is just not in the spirit of giving to me. It is the spirit of wanting. Though it does decrease the amount of unwanted junk so it has its upside.

I don't remember the last time I had a "wish list" My DIL requested one and I asked for dollar store stuff like potholders and the like. I don't want them to spend money but I understand the kids want to pick something out for Nana and Morfar. My DH gets frustrated because I don't have ideas for him but I really don't want "stuff" around my house. I did find a catalog for my hobby and go through starring some things I was interested in so he could pick out things for my manger and he appreciated that. Funny, I never have trouble picking stuff for him!
